ASU Innovative Leadership Certificate Program
Innovative leadership and creative strategies are exactly what is needed to act on the implications of healthcare reform and begin early adoption of leadership, operational and strategic initiatives, according to Kelly E. Styles, President of Verras. “It is Verras’s goal to help organizations successfully integrate clinical and operational systems that will facilitate improvement in quality and efficiency of care and our new partnership with Arizona State University and the Innovative Leadership Certificate Program greatly enhances our ability to do that,” Styles said.
Verras has been licensed to deliver a new and innovative program developed by the ASU College of Nursing & Health Innovation. This partnership will expand the accessibility to and the delivery of the ASU Innovation Leadership Certificate program (ILCP) for Healthcare Leadership.
The ASU non-credit Innovation Leadership Certificate Program (ILCP) includes a leadership briefing, individual participant conversations, four on-site team sessions (session one is a full day, sessions two, three, and four are half days), and coaching (faculty and peer) between each of the team sessions. Each participant is required to do an innovation project of their design, moving some significant component forward within their organization.
The content of the Innovation Leadership Certificate Program consists of sound theoretical grounding in the principles of innovation leadership, innovation projects with measurable goals, and the learning that comes from bumping up against reality when leading and implementing innovation.

2.Strengthen the organization using practical applications of innovative leadership
3.Produce measureable impact through results in strategic initiatives, employee engagement, and team effectiveness

According to Kathy Malloch, PhD, MBA, RN, Associate Professor ASU; College of Nursing & Health Innovation, "The difference is that without the additional knowledge of change and innovation, leaders and managers are reluctant or lack confidence to take on the work that needs to be done and to do it in the most creative ways. Getting through the traditional bureaucracy and their personal reluctance is a large part of the problem - so learning about change and innovation provides healthcare workers the spark to ignite action. The actions are often more creative and occur more quickly than they would in normal channels."
